Fisheries and oceans Canada - Quebec region wishes to inform commercial fisheries
stakeholders that the electronic logbook (ELOG) will be requested, on a mandatory basis,
for the following commercial and communal commercial fleets for the 2025 season:

▪ Snow crab - All areas
▪ Lobster - All areas
▪ Herring - All areas
▪ Mackerel - All areas
▪ Bait fishing
▪ Redfish Unit 1 - Inshore fleet

Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), Quebec region, informs licence holders that an update of the Regional Guidelines for management of individual transferable quota (ITQ) programs (Regional Guidelines) including appendix have been published and are now available at the following link : REGIONAL GUIDELINES FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF INDIVIDUAL TRANSFERABLE QUOTA PROGRAMS. New programs have been added, while some have been merged.

Subject: Closure Atlantic mackerel bait fishery for the 2024 season

Québec – August 16, 2024

Fisheries and Oceans Canada will be closing the Atlantic mackerel bait fishery in all Mackerel Fishing Areas on Sunday August 18, 2024 at 12:00 (noon) Eastern Daylight Time.

Magdalen Islands- August 1, 2024

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the opening of Area 12 toad crab (Hyas) fishing season for the Magdalen Islands fleet. The twelve-week fishing season will begin on August 25 at 00:01 and end on November 16 at 23:59.

Subject: Opening of the second portion of the Atlantic mackerel bait fishery for the 2024 season

1. Application

This Conservation Harvesting plan (CHP) applies to the rock crab license holders from the Quebec region for the 2024 and 2025 fishing seasons.

2. Fishing Areas

Sub-areas 12A, 12B et 12C : Magdalen Islands

Sub-areas12D à 12Z et 17C : Gaspe-Lower St-Lawrence

Sub-areas 16A à 16G : North Shore

Sept-Iles – July 19, 2024

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the opening of the sub-areas CN1 à CN4 Toad crab fishing season from July 19 until October 31, 2024.

In order to obtain the Conditions of Licence, licence holders will have to apply for them through the National Licensing System online. For assistance with the National Online Licensing System, please contact Customer Support by phone at 1-877-535-7307 or by e-mail at fishing-peche@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.

Application

This CHP applies to Bluefin tuna licence holders from the Quebec fleet using vessels of less than 19.81 m. the authorized fishing areas for Bluefin tuna are: 4RST for Gulf fishing (home waters) and 4Wd, 4VsW, 4X and 5 for Ex-Sector fishing.

Fishing season

The 2024 fishing season for the Quebec region Bluefin tuna fleet will occur from July 20, 2024 to November 15, 2024. The opening date is regularly discussed within the regional advisory committee.
