Notices to Fish Harvesters

Subject : Opening of the Lobster fishery in areas 15, 16, 17 and 18

Sept-Îles – April 17, 2025

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the 2025 lobster fishing season in zones 15, 16, 17 and 18 according to the following dates:

Areas 15-16 and sub-area 18I :  To be determined

Sub-area 17A : From April 27 to July 19

Sub-area 17B : From April 21 to July 13

Sub-area 18AEF : From May 8 to July 23

Sub-area 18BCD : From May 12 to July 27

Sub-area 18G : From May 4  to July 19

Sub-area 18H : From May 3 to July 18

Please note that the season will start at 5:00 a.m. on opening day and end at 11:59 p.m. on closing day for all sub-areas.

A pilot project for the setting of traps seven (7) days after the opening date of the sub-area 17B licence holders' fishery will continue in 2025. This measure will also be authorized for all permit holders in sub-area 17A.

The setting of traps period in area 17A is from 27 April 05:00 (EDT) to 4 May 04:59 (EDT).

The setting of traps period in area 17B is from 21 April 05:00 (EDT) to 28 April 04:59 (EDT).

The management measures are included in the Conservation Harvesting Plan 2025 approved on April 17, 2025.
