This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) for scallop applies to the fleet of scallop licence holders in Gaspé–Lower St. Lawrence areas 17A1, 17A2, 18B1, 18B2, 18C and 19A.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the capelin weir fishery in subdivision 4Tp, which will be effective on April 1, 2023.

2. Fishing Areas

The authorized fishing areas are capelin fishing areas 15 and 16.

 Gaspé – March 23,2023

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the Atlantic halibut fishery for the Gaspé fixed gear fleet less than 13.71 m from the Others group in the 4RST divisions.

The fishery will be authorized from April 1, 2023 at 5:00 a.m. EDT to April 14, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EDT and from May 1, 2023 at 5:00 a.m. EDT to May 14, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Licence holders may take advantage of either of the proposed fishing periods.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces that the total allowable catch (TAC) of snow crab for Area 12A has been set at 44.62 t. In accordance with the application of quota reconciliation, ITQs will be revised, if required.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the opening date for snow crab fishing in Area 17 for the 2023 Season March 27 at 5:00 am (EDT) following the recommendation of the opening committee with First Nations and industry.

Other management measures in the Conservation Harvesting Plan approved on March 22, 2023 remain unchanged.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada announces today that commencing in 2023 fishing season, fish harvesters from both Gulf and Quebec Regions will be required to dial a new telephone number when hailing out is required as a licence condition.
