Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces that pursuant to Variation Order 2024-Q-003, the scallop fishing season in the Magdalen Islands will begin on March 21, 2024.

This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) applies to the fleets of snow crab licence holders in Areas 12A, 12C, 14, 15, 16, 16A and 17.
The specific periods of the 2024 snow crab fishing season for each of the Snow Crab Fishing Areas (CFAs) will be confirmed by Notice to Fishermen or Variation Orders. The duration of the fishing season is 10 weeks (CFA 12A), 13 weeks (CFA 17) and 14 weeks (CFA 12C, 14, 15, 16, and 16A).

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces that the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) will be mandatory for the directed Atlantic halibut fishery for the Magdalen Island Atlantic halibut fixed gear fleet as of the 2025-2026 fishing season.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) - Québec Region wishes to inform shrimp harvesters in the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence of the distribution of the Northern shrimp Total Allowable Catches (TACs) for Fishing Areas 8, 9, 10 and 12 among the various groups for the upcoming fishing season.
