Update to the mandatory colour scheme for gear marking in Eastern Canada (2020-04-22)
Date of Notice
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) – The Department wishes to inform the fishing industry
that the colour scheme for gear marking of ropes has been updated to include a “Scientific licences”
category, as well as to address specific matters in the toad crab fishery for fishing area 24 (Gulf
Region) and in the snow crab fishery for management areas 2J North and 2J South (Newfoundland
& Labrador Region).
The updated detailed colour scheme can be viewed in the attached version 3.0 of the document
titled “Gear Marking Eastern Canada - for non-tended fixed gear fisheries – Mandatory Colour
Scheme”.
