All the information you need to use ELOGs can be found on the Department's web page at http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/elogs.

2. Paper logbooks/Combined forms

With the progressive implementation of ELOGs, the paper logbook supplier manages a tighter stock. For instance, DFO would like to remind Quebec fishing licence holders who will carry out fisheries for which the paper logbook/combined form will still be required in 2024 to send their order to the pre-qualified supplier for the Quebec Region as soon as possible, at least several weeks in advance, to avoid any delay in delivery.

You will find all the information concerning paper logbooks and combined forms on the Department's Web page at the following address: https://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fisheries-peches/sdc-cps/index-eng.html.

3. Instructions for providing the ELOG-UID and Form's number

In order to ensure the linkage of fishing data with your purchase data, it is essential that you communicate your ELOG-UID of form number to the dockside monitoring company and to the buyer. Data linkage is mainly done through the unique identifier of the electronic logbook (ELOG-UID) or the form’s number. When providing the Electronic Logbook Unique Identifier (ELOG-UID) or paper logbook/combined form’s number corresponding to your fishing trip, we suggest that you use the phonetic alphabet in the Appendix to reduce telephone transmission errors.
