SUBJECT : Announcement of changes to management measures

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region informs whelk licence holders in Areas
1 to 9 of the Quebec Region of changes to whelk fishery management measures that will be in effect as of March 29, 2023.
Minimal whelk size
The minimal size of the whelk will be 85 mm for areas 4, 5, 6 and 7. It is expected that the minimal size will increase to 90 mm in 2024 in areas 4 and 5. In areas 8 and 9, the size will be 80 mm. The minimal size of areas 1 and 2 remains at 70 mm and area 3 at 80 mm.
