1. Application

This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) for Atlantic Halibut applies to groundfish license holders in the Magdalen Islands fixed gear fleet under 19.81m when directing for Atlantic halibut in Divisions 4RST from May 15, 2023, to May 14, 2024.

Gaspé – May 31, 2023

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the Atlantic halibut fishery for the Gaspé fixed gear fleet less than 13.71 m from the Others group in the 4RST divisions.

Sept-Îles – June 1, 2023

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the capelin fishery in fishing area 15. The opening will be effective on June 2, 2023.

Eligible fish harvesters who wish to participate in this fishery can ask for their Capelin Conditions of licence through the National Licensing System (NOLS) from now on.

Québec – May 24, 2023

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the opening date of the snow crab fishing season in Area 13. The season will open on May 26, 2023 at 4:30 a.m. (EDT).

Because of  ice conditions and the delayed opening of this fishery, only one fishing season date option will be available in 2023. In addition, the duration of the fishing period will be restricted to a maximum of 12 weeks (August 18, 23:59 EDT).

Other management measures in the Conservation Harvesting Plan approved on April 24, 2023 remain unchanged.

1. Application

This Conservation-based harvesting plan (CHP) is aimed at scallop licence holders of area 15 and sub-areas 16H and 16I, Quebec region, North Shore area. The CHP is in effect for the 2023 to 2025 seasons.
