Québec – June 22, 2023
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) - Quebec Region announces that temporary transfers of up to 100% of shrimp ITQ from Anticosti (9), Sept-Îles (10) and Estuary (12) areas will be exceptionally authorized between Group B participants, starting July 1, 2023.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region inform the industry that the Minister has announced a continuation of the closure of Atlantic mackerel commercial and bait fisheries in Atlantic Canada and Quebec for the 2023 season to allow the stock to rebuild.
Gaspé – July 10, 2023
Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the implementation of the Individual Transferable Quota (ITQ) Program for 4RST Atlantic halibut for the Gaspé Peninsula fixed gear fleet of less than 13.71 m – Lobster Group.
Sept-Îles – July 14, 2023
Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the postponement of the closure lobster fishing season in Sub-area 18G. The closure is now set on Saturday, August 5, 2023 following the request of the fleet representatives. The mandatory evacuation of part of the population of Sept-Iles caused by forest fires prevented lobster fishing activities in this sub-area for a period of one week.
Quebec – July 14, 2023
Fisheries and Oceans Canada informs the Bluefin tuna Quebec licence holders of the management measures for the commercial fishery in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Ex-sector that will be in place for the 2023 fishing season.
The fishery will take place from July 20 to December 31, 2023. An initial allocation of 25.190 t is granted to the Quebec fleet for the Bluefin tuna directed fishery.
SUBJECT: Opening of the rock crab fishery in sub-areas 16A to 16G - North Shore
Sept-Iles – July 13, 2023
Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the opening of the sub-areas 16A to 16G rock crab fishing season from July 19 until November 1st, 2023.
Gaspé – July 12, 2023
Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the Atlantic halibut fishery for the Gaspé fixed gear fleet less than 13.71 m from the Lobster fishers group in the 4RST divisions.
As stipulated in the Notice to Fish Harvesters of July 10, 2023, the 4RST Atlantic halibut allocation of the Gaspé fixed gear fleet less than 13.71 m from the Lobster fishers group is now managed under an Individual Transferable Quotas (ITQ) regime.
Gaspé – July 12, 2023
Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec region announces the opening of the 4RST Greenland Halibut fishery for the licence holders of the Gaspé fixed gear fleet of less than 13.71 m under competitive regime.
Following discussions with industry representatives, fishing under competitive fisheries management will be permitted from July 14, 2023 at 4:30 a.m. to August 22,2023 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT). The allocation available to the fishery is 67,69 t.
The present Conservation-based Harvesting Plan (CHP) applies for Scallop license holders having access to sub-areas 16E, 16F and 18A - Quebec region, North Shore area.
