SUBJECT: OPENING OF THE FISHING SEASON FOR CAPELIN WEIR FISHERY IN AREA 4Tp

Quebec – March 21, 2025

 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the capelin weir fishery in subdivision 4Tp, which will be effective on March 25, 2025.

Management measures regarding this fishery are described in the 2025 Conservation Harvesting Plan for capelin in areas 15 and 16 (divisions 4ST), approved on March 20, 2025.

 

CONSERVATION HARVESTING PLAN SCALLOP – AREA 20 – MAGDALEN ISLANDS FLEET SEASON 2024-2025

1. Application

This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) for Scallop applies to the Scallop licence holders from the Magdalen Islands fleet when fishing in the Scallop fishing area 20. The CHP is in place for the 2024 and 2025 fishing seasons.

2. Fishing Areas

Subject to any Variation Order and based on valid Conditions of licence, the authorized fishing area is Scallop fishing area 20, a coastal area surrounding the Magdalen Islands.

Announcement of the recipients of Areas 12 and 12F snow crab allocation for the Magdalen Islands lobster fleet

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) – Quebec Region announces the distribution of Areas 12 and 12F snow crab allocation for the Magdalen Islands lobster fleet for the 2025 fishing season.

The snow crab allocation for Area 22 lobster fishers is divided between the two representative associations as follow: 66.6% to the Rassemblement des pêcheurs et pêcheuses des côtes des Iles (RPPCI) and 33.3% to the Association of Inshore fisherman (the INSHORE).

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the clam fishery areas and sub-areas 1a, 1b, 1c, 2 and 3. The opening will be effective on March 17th, 2025.
