Guided tours of the Maurice Lamontagne Institute

Panoramic view of the Maurice Lamontagne Institute

This summer, explore the impacts of climate change on our aquatic ecosystems during guided tours at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute!

Fisheries and Oceans Canada's research center, located by the sea between Sainte-Flavie and the Reford Gardens, is opening its doors for free guided tours.

Dive into the heart of three main themes:

  • Research – Learn how our scientists study fish populations, marine mammals, and environmental conditions.
  • Innovation – Explore cutting-edge technologies used to map the seabed, monitor currents, tides, and water levels.
  • Protection – Learn more about efforts to conserve the St. Lawrence, protect species at risk, and manage aquatic invasive species.

Through more than twenty stations—including the tank room and the ship workshop—our guides will take you to the heart of marine protected areas, climate challenges, and human impacts on our aquatic environments. You will discover the marine St. Lawrence and the species that inhabit it: whales, seals, sharks, and many more.
