Announcing opening of the seal and harp seal hunt_Areas 17, 18 et 19_Gaspésie
GASPÉ – October 29, 2024
Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region is announcing the opening of the seal and harp seal hunt for 2024 in areas 17, 18 and 19.
Fishing (hunting) will be open in areas 17, 18 and 19 for licences class Q300 to Q322 and Q330 to Q332. Please note that the fishing periods (hunting) has been modified as follow :
- Grey seal : opened from november 1 to December 31 2024, and from January 20 to February 15, 2025;
- Harp seal : opened from november 1, 2024 to February 15, 2025.
All management measures are available in the 2024-2025 Harp and grey seal Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) approved October 30, 2023 and amended on October 25, 2025 to include the fishing (hunting) dates modifications.
