New Area Director, North Shore
The Fisheries and Oceans Canada regional management team is pleased to welcome Andrew Rowsell as the new Area Director, North Shore. He took over from Martin St-Gelais, who has retired.
Mr. Rowsell began his career in the federal public service in 1990 as a conservation officer with Environment Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service. In 1998, he became a fishery officer for Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Since joining the Department, he has held a number of positions within the Conservation and Protection Branch. He has been a field supervisor, a district supervisor and an area chief for the Gaspe–Lower St. Lawrence and North Shore areas. His career also took him to Ottawa as Director of Enforcement Operations and to the Central and Arctic Region as Acting Director, Prairies Area.
With his extensive knowledge of fisheries issues and experience in the field, Andrew Rowsell will be an important member of the Quebec regional management team. He will also be able to count on the team to help him fulfill his mandate and contribute to the development of the fishing industry.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Martin St‑Gelais for his excellent work as Area Director, North Shore. Throughout his time with us, he excelled in delivering services to the marine sector and working collaboratively with various industry stakeholders.
