New Regional Director, Fisheries Management
The Fisheries and Oceans Canada regional management team is proud to announce the appointment of Maryse Lemire as Regional Director, Fisheries Management. Ms. Lemire took over the position in November.
After earning her master's degree in Biology from Université Laval in Québec, Ms. Lemire began her career in the federal public service in 1996 as a biologist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region. She went on to hold various positions with increasingly complex responsibilities within the Fish Habitat Management Program. Since 2013, she had been Director, Real Property Assets, Environment, Safety and Security, for the Quebec Region.
Ms. Lemire was also a federal member of the James Bay Advisory Committee on the Environment from 2005 to 2013, during which time she served two one-year terms as Vice‑Chairperson and Chairperson. In addition, she has written several scientific reports on the biology of fisheries resources and on the impacts of human activity on resources and the environment.
Ms. Lemire's extensive knowledge and experience make her a key member within Quebec's regional management team.
