Fishery Officers Meet Outdoor Enthusiasts

Two fishery officers talking with visitors at the Fisheries and Oceans Canada booth.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada took advantage of its participation in the 2015 Hunting, Fishing and Camping Show in Québec to inaugurate its booth, “Fishery Officers, Protecting our resources” .

Nearly 33,400 visitors passed through the turnstile and a large number of them stopped at the booth, one of the most visited exhibitions at the show.

Visitors learned about a variety of interesting topics, such as species at risk, marine mammals, shellfish harvesting, ice and recreational fishing, commercial fishing and seal hunting. The pursuit of a career as a fishery officer and the protection of marine resources also generated a lot of interest.

A number of visitors at the booth mentioned that they often travelled to the maritime regions to practise freshwater and saltwater sport fishing. For the fishery officers, it is always rewarding to share knowledge with outdoor enthusiasts.

This was the third time that Fisheries and Oceans Canada participated in this show. With some 250 exhibitors, it is one of largest shows of this kind in the Québec area. In April, the Expo Nature of Rimouski hosted the Fishery officers and their new booth.
