Two New Canadian Coast Guard Vessels Dedicated

Two Canadian Coast Guard vessels were dedicated in Quebec during the summer of 2014: the CCGS Leim, a near-shore fishery research vessel based in Rimouski, and the CCGS Caporal Kaeble V.C., a mid-shore patrol vessel based in Québec.

Funding for Aquatic Habitat Restoration Projects

More than 40 restoration projects for aquatic habitats in Quebec have been funded through contribution agreements with Fisheries and Oceans Canada since the launch of the Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program in June 2013. A fourth round for proposals has been launched on October 17, 2014 for projects to be undertaken in 2015-2016.

Harrington Harbour Welcomes Minister Shea

The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans was welcomed by various representatives of the local harbour authority and fishing industry in August 2014. While in the village, she announced a multi-year project to build a breakwater and install floating docks.
