Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the postponement of the opening of the 2026 lobster fishing season in Area 22. Following the recommendations of fleet representatives, the opening date is now set for May 9, 2026.

As of Friday, May 8, 2026, Fisheries and Oceans Canada will implement the weather monitoring protocol. The official opening and closing dates of the fishery will be confirmed through Notices to Fishers and Variation Orders.
