SUBJECT : Opening of the Herring fishery in area 15

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the herring fishery in area 15. The fishery will open on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

The total allowable catch (TAC) is set at 4,500 tons for the 2026 season for the entire Area 15. Of this TAC, a maximum of 4,000 tons is authorized in NAFO Subdivision 4Sw.

Other management measures are listed in the 2025–2026 Conservation-Based Harvesting Plan for the herring fishery in Area 15, available on DFO’s website.

Conditions of licence
