Announcement of the opening of the Area 17 snow crab fishery
Québec – March 27, 2026
Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the opening date for snow crab fishing in Area 17 for the 2026 Season from March 30, 2026 to June 24, 2026. Please note that the season will open at 5:00 a.m. (EDT).
Other management measures are described in the 2025 Conservation Harvesting Plan approved on March 19, 2026 and available online at: Notices to Fish Harvesters.
Furthermore, it should be noted that during the period during which fishing is authorized, it is the captain's responsibility to read the notices issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada and Transport Canada related to marine safety, as well as safety standards and good practices, and take all the necessary steps to ensure safe fishing.
